Vaccines Not Linked to Increase in Celiac Disease Diagnosis Rates

Researchers in Sweden were left baffled after a sudden spike in diagnoses of Celiac Disease in children under 2.  They wondered if infant vaccines could trigger an abnormal immune response to gluten.

However in a new study reported in the journal Pediatrics shows that changes in Sweden’s National Vaccine Program did not correlate with the rise in Celiac cases and most likely are not the reason.  Some researchers believe that introducing wheat in infant formula too early can create a bad immune response that can persist throughout life.
